The Power of Giving
Have you ever stopped to think about how powerful your giving truly is? It may be easy to underestimate the impact of a single donation, but what if you thought about the act of giving like the act of voting?
In the same way that casting your vote is a way to exercise your voice and influence the direction of your community, your donations—whether of time, money, or resources—also have the potential to shape the world around you in ways you may not even realize.
Your giving sends a message about what you care about, whether it’s hunger, education, climate change, racial justice, or healthcare. It’s your chance to stand up and say, “I believe in this cause, and I want to support it.” When others act with this same belief, we create movements and advance the missions of nonprofits that have the power to transform our communities.
No matter how small you think your gift is, it matters. A $5 donation might not feel like much, but when you multiply your gift by the number of others who care about the same cause, it adds up! Every dollar you contribute helps fund the important work of organizations that are making real, lasting change.
Voting is a powerful form of civic engagement, and so too is giving. There are many resources you can offer—your time, your voice, your skills, your treasure. Whether you volunteer, donate, or amplify causes on social media, your actions are powerful. Giving comes in many forms, and each one makes a difference.
This giving season, the Council encourages you to give with purpose, give with passion, and give with the knowledge that you are helping to create the kind of world you want to see. When you contribute, you’re voting with your heart and wallet to create positive change and support the vision of society that gives you hope.
