Our mission is to inspire our community to promote, champion, and invest in the success of Stillwater Public Library.
Impact and Programs
Accomplishments
The Stillwater Public Library Foundation significantly impacted the Stillwater Public Library in 2024 by providing crucial support that expanded its reach and services beyond what city funding alone could cover. Key areas of impact include: Enhanced Books and Materials: The Foundation funded the acquisition of new copies of popular books, up-to-date nonfiction titles, and multiple copies of in-demand books to reduce waiting lists. They also supported newspaper subscriptions. Inspiring Programs: Through the Foundation's support, the library offered a diverse array of programs for all ages, including summer reading initiatives, early literacy activities, arts and STEM enrichment, and various lifelong learning opportunities. Expanded Access and Services: The Foundation's contributions enabled the library to offer valued services such as Sunday hours, free Wi-Fi access, and hearing loops in key rooms. They also supported the employment of a volunteer coordinator and a part-time youth services librarian, which optimized library support and facilitated community engagement through volunteer efforts. Community Engagement: The Foundation's efforts helped the library serve as a vibrant hub for learning, discovery, and community connection, fostering a sense of belonging and providing valuable resources for all residents. The Foundation's "For the Love of the Library" fundraiser in May 2024 featured bestselling author Angie Kim. The event brought together literature lovers in support of Stillwater Public Library. In addition, almost 200 people attended Light a Spark, the Foundation's annual 4th of July fundraising event.
Current Goals
The Stillwater Public Library Foundation is dedicated to expanding the reach and impact of Stillwater Public Library by securing resources that go beyond its municipal funding. Our programmatic goals for this year focus on enriching the library's offerings, improving accessibility, preserving its heritage, supporting extended Sunday hours, providing a part-time youth services librarian and a part-time volunteer coordinator, and strengthening the library's role as a vital community hub.

The library is free and accessible to all, and serves all ages.

Stillwater Public Library serves the city of Stillwater, MN, the surrounding area, and the greater St. Croix Valley. In addition, the library receives many guests and visitors from the Twin Cities metro area, as well as from other states and countries.
