Mission Statement

To engage the community and its resources to expand the reach and impact of the Stillwater Public Library.

Impact and Programs

Accomplishments In 2023, the Stillwater Public Library Foundation supported Stillwater Public Library with $185,164 in grant funding for library initiatives. Stillwater Public Library used this money to purchase new materials, including books, periodicals, and digital resources. In addition, funds from the Foundation provide Wi-Fi access for patrons by purchasing mobile Wi-Fi hotspots that patrons can check out. Almost all programming at the library is funded by donors to the Foundation. This includes educational workshops, cultural events, skill-building seminars, and recreational activities. In 2023, 287 programs and activities were offered at the library, and over 18,000 people participated. There are 44 adult art programs in 2023. Evaluations from these programs show that 96% of participants who replied increased art skills, 65% who replied made social connections, and 89% who replied met a personal goal. There are 104 total adult programs in 2023. Also, the Foundation receives grant funding that sponsors the library's Summer Reading Program. Over 500 youth registered, and over 922 books were given away during the 2023 summer reading program. In addition, over 1,000 children attended 16 school-year early literacy programs, and 2,378 attended 21 all-ages summer programs. Lastly, the Foundation held a Light A Spark July 4th Celebration at the library. There were close to 300 attendees, including 20 volunteers. We aimed to create a welcoming community event open to all and raise funds for the library.
Current Goals Current goals for the Stillwater Public Library Foundation include ensuring that the organization has the policies it needs to build trust and transparency with the public. This is why we have decided to submit an application to meet the Charities Review Council accountability standards. Other goals include continuing to raise money to support library programs. Our intent is to enhance and extend the library through grant support for library needs as determined by Stillwater Public Library administration.
Community or Constituency Served The library is free and accessible to all, and serves all ages.
Geographic Area Served Stillwater Public Library serves the city of Stillwater, MN, the surrounding area, and the greater St. Croix Valley. In addition, the library receives may guests and visitors from the Twin Cities metro area, as well as from out of state.
