Mission Statement
Founded in 2012, Pawsitivity Service Dogs for Veterans provides highly trained service dogs at no cost to U.S. military veterans with PTSD and other disabilities. We help veterans increase safety, independence, and daily engagement. Our results are verified through an independent third-party impact evaluation.
Impact and Programs
Accomplishments
In 2025, Pawsitivity Service Dogs placed 12 service and support dogs with clients and maintained at least one dog in active training at all times. The organization provided ongoing training and support to 54 client–service dog teams, ensuring long-term success after placement. Clients reported measurable improvements in emotional well-being, increased independence in daily activities, and greater engagement in their communities. Service dogs were trained using individualized, one-on-one methods tailored to each client’s disability, home environment, and goals. All service dogs were provided at no cost to clients, removing financial barriers to access. Pawsitivity continues to operate with a focus on outcomes, transparency, and efficient use of resources, with the majority of expenses directed to program services.
Current Goals
We aim to continue training and placing highly skilled service dogs with U.S. military veterans while maintaining ongoing support for all existing client–service dog teams. In the current fiscal year, we expect to graduate approximately 10 to 12 new teams and maintain continuous training of at least one dog at all times. Training is individualized to each client’s disability, home environment, and goals, focused on creating reliable, real-world performance. We will continue to expand access by supporting veterans in training their own dogs in our regional program, while maintaining high standards for dog selection, health, and temperament. All service dogs will continue to be provided at no cost to veterans, removing financial barriers to access. We will also strengthen partnerships and funding sources to support program sustainability while maintaining a focus on measurable outcomes, transparency, and efficient use of resources.
