Mission Statement

Transforming lives and communities through cooperative enterprise.

Impact and Programs

Accomplishments In 2021, NCF helped convert 53 manufactured home units to cooperative, resident ownership and provided 2,350 hours of technical assistance to co-ops, including the 12 manufactured home cooperatives we've helped convert to co-op ownership since 2004. NCF secured $2.8 million in financing for cooperative purchase projects and secured $3 million in grant funding for improvement projects in partner co-ops. The organization hosted the fifth annual education and capacity building conference, Common Ground. The organization helped advance legislation that resulted in over $20 million in funding allocated to manufactured home community preservation by the MN Legislature. The organization made progress toward standing up a loan fund, including designing three loan products and developing a 5-year capitalization plan.
Current Goals Support the creation and development of housing cooperatives, particularly those serving low-income, Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and other historically marginalized communities through the deployment of capital and development services. Preserve 100-150 units of affordable housing and transfer $5 million in assets from investor ownership to resident ownership through cooperative conversions. Pursue new construction projects to help grow the number of affordable, cooperative homeownership opportunities in the states we serve. Raise $2 million of capital to deploy capital products and development services to resident communities. Advance public policy that promotes and enables cooperative ownership.
