Accomplishments
The pandemic posed several challenges for the Neuro House and 2022 was a rebuilding year. In April 2022 NHH vacated their rental property in southwest Rochester and partnered with a local hotel, Centerstone Properties, to house the neuro guests. This was very beneficial for the guests as they now have handicap accessibility, private bathrooms and kitchenettes that were not available to them previously. In addition they have shuttle transportation to the Mayo Clinic, exercise facilities and pool and restaurant access. There were 227 room nights occupied in 2022.
Current Goals
Our programmatic goal is to provide one free night of lodging to neurological patients and their families along with a reduced rate for the remainder of their stay. These patients sometimes need to stay for weeks in Rochester, MN while participating in pain clinics or research studies at the Mayo Clinic.
Community or Constituency Served
The Neuro Hospitality House serves neurological patients and their families from all over the US while they are receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Patients are seeking treatment for various neurological disorders that include but are not limited to stroke, Alzheimer's disease, ALS, Parkinson's disease, MS, CTE and long Covid.
Geographic Area Served
The Mayo Clinic is known world wide and has a large constituency of international patients. While NHH provides housing from anyone in the world, patients are primarily from the United States.
