My Very Own Bed

Mission Statement

Provides new beds and linens to children of families that have recently secured stable housing in the Twin Cities.

Impact and Programs

Accomplishments We hired our first full-time program manager, Mosope Ani, to expand our volunteer program and manage bed deliveries. With Mosope's energy and enthusiasm, we've expanded our volunteer base to 256 volunteers contributing more than 1600 hours. More than 200 people participated in our first Steps for Sleep campaign to promote healthy sleep by setting exercise goals during March. We partnered with several new organizations to refer us to more families across the Twin Cities. University of Saint Thomas students helped us with sleep education, fundraised for us, revised our impact survey and collected academic research on the benefits of providing beds to improve kids' sleep. Our intern Mihad Semir led our impact survey data collection and data analysis. We moved into a larger space to support bed deliveries to more kids. Our board of directors completed a new strategic plan for the organization. With your help, and the support of many donors and sponsors, we exceeded our goals for several fundraising campaigns, including raising more than $76,000 during Beds & Bluegrass this month! And, most importantly, we reached our goal! We provided 1226 beds to kids in the Twin Cities, and have delivered more than 3800 beds since founding the organization!
Current Goals Our goal for 2022 is to provide 1400 beds and dream kits.
Community or Constituency Served Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs.
Geographic Area Served We provide services in Hennepin, Anoka, Ramsey & Washington counties.
