Minnesota Chorale

Mission Statement

We sing together to unite people and amplify diverse voices through rigorous artistic practice and joyous collaboration.

Impact and Programs

Accomplishments We expanded our youth programming to allow greater access to free music education, we nurtured our musical partnerships, continued to uplift BIPOC creators in all of our programming and created more opportunities to joyfully sing with our community.
Current Goals The Minnesota Chorale 2024-25 Season programmatic goals include: - Engaging all of our singers and Family of Choirs in projects of meaningful music making, - Exploring a wide range of diverse repertoire and sharing this with the greater community, - Offering opportunities for dialogue and reflection around our programming, - Connecting and collaborating with community partners around educational/civic programming (High School Choirs, Border CrosSing, A Thousand Tongues, Minnesota Orchestra, guest artists), - Uplifting our mission in all that we do.
Community or Constituency Served Founded in 1972 and led since 1995 by artistic director Kathy Saltzman Romey, the Minnesota Chorale is Minnesota's preeminent symphonic chorus and ranks among the foremost professional choruses in the U.S. Principal chorus of the Minnesota Orchestra since 2004, last year marked the 50th anniversary of its first appearance with the Orchestra. Comprising ensembles for singers from ages 8 to 80-plus, the Minnesota Chorale is a multi-generational umbrella organization. Minneapolis Youth Chorus, for Minneapolis students in grades 6 through 8, offers an opportunity for singers to develop their musical gifts in an environment dedicated to the celebration of diversity and the pursuit of artistic excellence. MYC's Prelude Children's Choir, for children in grades 3 through 5, provides an introductory choral experience for younger singers. Voices of Experience, established in 2010 in partnership with the MacPhail Center for Music, offers mature singers opportunities to achieve vocal excellence and enrich the community through song.
Geographic Area Served We serve the Twin Cities community. Our performances reach across the metro to provide musical experiences for all audiences.
