Impact and Programs
Accomplishments
JA North served 105,633 students in the 2022-2023 school year. Thirty-three percent of these students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch, 43% are students of color, 50% are white, and for 7% racial/ethnic identities are unknown. In total, over 724,000 program hours were delivered by professional and community volunteers who taught youth how to take charge of their academic and financial future. Participating students learned important lessons about financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship.
Current Goals
During the 2023-2024 program year, JA anticipates serving over 100,000 students across our three-state region including the Twin Cities Metro, greater Minnesota, North Dakota, and western Wisconsin. Our goal is for students participating in JA programming to gain the skills that lead to self-sufficiency by focusing on important concepts related to financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship. JA programs: (1) Expose students to career pathways and teach them the skills needed to fill the talent pipeline relevant to our region’s established and future economy, (2) Nurture educated, proactive attitudes toward personal finances in students that will support their financial stability as they progress through various life stages, and (3) Cultivate highly sought after entrepreneurial skills like strategic thinking, resourcefulness, teamwork, and innovation to prepare students to be highly engaged employees.
