Impact and Programs
Accomplishments
We successfully increased our weekend food program to serve 634,677 meals to more than 5,500 children in nearly 200 schools. Our surveys of families that have participated in The Sheridan Story’s Weekend Food Program reveal that 97% feel the food has been helpful for their family and 86% feel the food has helped their child be more prepared for school. In a similar survey conducted with school staff, the respondents shared improvements they saw in students as a result of our bags of food in the following categories and rates: academics–88%, behavior–82%, self-esteem–85%, school attendance–79%, and attentiveness–88%.
Current Goals
(1) increasing our impact through food program expansion, (2) ensuring our food program makes a positive impact in the children’s lives, and (3) developing relationships and partnerships between the schools and the community.
