Impact and Programs
Accomplishments
In 2023, CSC served 82 residents through its residential care facilities, providing holistic services that included medical care, educational opportunities and preparation for placement. 6 children were placed into adoptive families, 3 children were reunited with their birth family members and 7 new residents were admitted into our homes. 20 children received specialized services related to physical or occupational therapy. 31 children attended our in-house school, Cebu Children of Hope School, while 28 children attended local private schools, colleges or universities. 20 young adult residents received life skills training as they progress on their path to independent living. CSC raised more than $2.6 million to accomplish its annual operating goals. In addition, CSC began construction on a new home to serve our young adult population of residents. This has been a multi-year effort that began in 2021 with a strategic planning process and approved plan that encompasses programmatic and building aspects for an aging residential population. Lastly, CSC made some significant changes in its leadership by hiring a new HR Director and a new Facilities Director, both of whom were external hires with vast experience in their professions. We have already seen the benefit of their leadership and work for the benefit of all who work and reside at CSC.
Current Goals
In 2024, CSC plans to continue its development of programs to serve older residents who are beyond the age of placement through adoption. This population group is comprised of 20 young adults who are pursuing educational opportunities and life skills training as a part of their daily routine. A dedicated social worker helps them navigate opportunities before them in order to create a healthy and sustainable plan for their future. To aid in their development, a new building is being constructed to accommodate their changing needs for housing and training at a location that is closer to their schools and potential workplaces. This project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. CSC is also at the tail end of an accreditation process by the Department of Social Welfare, a Philippine government child care agency accrediting body. Accreditation at a Level 3 will provide CSC more networking opportunities with local NGOs and the local government that could lead to more children being placed into families and also taking in more children who are in need of CSC services. Finally, as CSC continues to develop its own workforce of staff who provide for the children we serve, our HR department will continue to provide opportunities for leadership and team development in order to train, educate and foster trust and loyalty among employees.
